Welcome to a journey to one of the most impressive natural wonders of the world – Niagara Falls. Located on the border between the USA and Canada, these majestic waterfalls attract millions of visitors every year. Their sheer power and beauty are not only a feast for the senses but also a fascinating testament to nature. In this post, we will explore the history, geography, and unforgettable experiences that make Niagara Falls a unique travel destination. Let yourself be enchanted by the magic of this place and discover what makes it so special!
Boat Tours
The Niagara Falls consist of three falls. The American Falls, the Bridal Veil Falls and the Horseshoe Falls. All three are located on the international border between Canada and the USA. Three gigantic rock cliffs, divided by the two islands Goat and Luna Islands, form the substructure of this impressive natural wonder. The largest and most impressive are the Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side. Only ten percent of the Niagara River’s water flows over the American Falls and even less over the Bridal Veil Falls.
For those who wants to go a little closer to the waterfalls, there are the famous boat tours called Maid of the Mist. It looked funny from above, everyone was wrapped up in their red or blue raincoats. I can well imagine that you get a bit wet here. Personally, I wasn’t tempted to do this boat tour, but I mention it here because it seems to be very popular.
Skylon Tower
In my opinion, the best view of the Niagara Falls you have from the Skylon Tower. The tower is 236 meters high and on a clear day you can see Toronto. The glass lift takes the visitors to the top in only 52 seconds – that’s crazy.
Rainbow Bridge
The bridge at Niagara Falls is a steel arch bridge that crosses the Niagara-Gorge. It connects the cities of Niagara Falls (New York) to the east and Niagara Falls (Ontario) to the west. So, it is an official border crossing between Canada and the United States.
I would have loved to walk across the bridge, as I have never been to the USA. Also, I imagine it would be cool to have one foot in Canada and the other one in the USA. We couldn’t cross the bridge due to Covid-19. We were not allowed to leave Canada and enter the USA. We would have had to go into quarantine for 14 days. But put it on your to-do List when you are there. And if you’re ever there, do it for me.
Clifton Hill
Famous street of fun just one block to the Niagara Falls, like a mini version of Las Vegas – this is Clifton Hill. In every corner is an attraction, restaurant, entertainment and more. The fun on Clifton Hill doesn’t end when the sun goes down, in fact, the excitement is just getting started. There are numerous events to suit everyone’s interest.
Restaurant
Ok, this is not a big insider tip now. We all love the Hard Rock Cafe, but nevertheless I would like to mention it here. The Hard Rock Café is not only known for its good food, but also for its great atmosphere. We ate very good and could listen to nice live music. So, I would eat here again.
