Weekend trip to Gstaad

Gstaad is a village in the Berner Oberland and it is situated 1050 m above sea level. It belongs to the municipality of Saanen in Switzerland. A perfect place to spend the weekend.

The village

The village center is largely a car-free zone. There are numerous exclusive shops, restaurants, and hotels along the promenade. The houses are modelled on the chalet style, which gives the place a special charm. Numerous celebrities spend their holidays here.

Forellensee

A piece of wilderness in the Berner Oberland, the lake Forellensee based in Zweisimmen. We visited this beautiful lake for dinner. The lake restaurant offers fresh fish from their own lake. Of course, there are also other dishes for those who don’t like fish. A delicious evening meal in good company, enjoying the please and the elements in nature.

Lauenen

Between Gstaad und the imposing Wildhorn lies the mountain village Lauenen. Lauenen is characterized by old and well-preserved chalets. After leaving the village, a path leads uphill though several sections of forest. The nature reserve is of national importance and a true place of power. The untouched mountain scenery offers a view of impressive waterfalls and other beautiful places.

Hotel

We spent our weekend at the Hotel Huus Gstaad. The rooms are very lovingly furnished, very Swiss style. The hotel is above the village center, so you have a great view. We were there by car, so that was no problem. If you prefer to travel without a car, you will have to choose another hotel. During the day the hotel is very quiet, but in the evening, it turns into a small disco. Swiss influencers regularly visit this hotel, so with a bit of luck, you might meet another celebrity.
