Day trip to Iseltwald on the Lake Brienz

Published on 21 September 2019 at 18:26

Iseltwald is the only village on the left side of the Lake Brienz and is called the pearl on Lake Brienz. With around 420 inhabitants, the pretty fishing village is one of the small communities in the canton of Bern - and in my opinion, one of the most beautiful villages in Switzerland.

Iseltwald offers an unforgettable piece of home. Nestled between two mountain ranges, on the lower shores of Lake Brienz with meadows and picturesque wooden houses, many of which date back to the 16th century. Villages where traditions are lived and country life takes place in harmony with nature. Where the mighty mountains are reflected in the deep blue of Lake Brienz and the wild streams and rivers from the glacier world of the Jungfrau region unite and come to rest. It is a place for a relaxing day in the mountains with a wide range of leisure activities - a place where you feel at home.

The lakeside walk

What I can highly recommend to you is the lakeside walk. The lakeside walk on Lake Brienz leads from Iseltwald to Giessbach and is considered one of the most beautiful lakeside paths in the Berner Alps and from Switzerland. Along the shore you walk and see the shimmering blue-green water of the lake. The path leads through a mountain forest with mystical tree trunks and to great swimming spots.
